But I have to say that I have never, ever, owned a blender in the past that not only crushes the ice but turns it into slush. Last night, I was able to make a drink that was so slushy, it had no grains of ice left. I just received this refurbished blender from amazon yesterday. Any blender I've owned in the past, even the top name brands, only crushed the ice to the point where there was still some pebble size pieces. I'm very impressed. I tried it out last night and loved it. I can't yet rate it's reliability since I just got it.
I know the warranty on this was only for six months, so it exceeded that, but I've had less expensive blenders last just as long and perform just as well. I bought this blender in 2007 and it lasted two years before it burned itself out and melted the black part that must have rotated the blade. I'd say my average use was 1-2 times a week to make a smoothie.
I am not a frequent user, so keep that in mind. I trust Kitchenaid, and also have one of their stand mixers. I was hesitant on buying something refurbished, as I make a practice not to. However, for a family of 2, it's been fine. No problems with either one. This, however, was a great buy. It works like it's brand new.
But no biggie, it's put away when I'm done with it. I had been searching for just the right blender and one with a glass jar and not plastic. The body color isn't stainless steel. I had a gift certificate for $50 and after using that on this item and after tax and shipping I only paid $3 and change.
I tend to think reconditioned items are great due to the fact that they are made to brand new again and you get a great deal on pricing. It certainly doesn't take away from it's performance. It looks more like a spray paint industrial look. This item was perfect out of the box and I've never had any trouble with it.
I was thrilled. I would recommend this to anyone. I was so excited to get this. I'm not a big plastic fan in the kitchen.
You do have to clean it thoroughly and put it together tightly. I love this style blender. I like the pulse option on the blender. I thought it was broken, but my husband helped me put it back together and we're great again. I love the color, I love Kitchenaid, and I love the clean lines and style. It has been great.
